How to plan your week in the planner

Choose subjects, add lessons for each student, check them off, and reuse last week's plan.

The planner lays out each student's lessons by day. Check them off as you go, and your records fill in on their own.

Choose your subjects

The first time you open the planner, tick the subjects you teach. Add others under Others, separated by commas. Tap Start planning.

Add a lesson

  1. Under the day, tap + Add.
  2. Type the lesson, like "Fractions p. 42".
  3. Pick a subject and who it's for: one student, Each student separately, or Whole family together.
  4. Add the minutes if you want hours counted (optional). Leave it blank to use the subject's usual length, if you've set one.
  5. To put the same lesson on other days, tap Repeat on other days…, pick the days, and choose This week only or up to 12 weeks.
  6. Tap Add. The box stays open so you can add the next one. Tap Done to close it.

Check off, change or delete

  • Tap the box next to a lesson to mark it done. Tap again to undo.
  • Lessons your students ticked themselves show Marked done by …. Tap Confirm or Not yet. See How students tick off their own work.
  • Tap the lesson itself to change the title, subject, student, day, minutes or notes. Tap Save, or Delete to remove it.
  • Didn't get to everything? On Home or a day in the planner, tap Move what's left to the next school day. Lessons that aren't done (or waiting for your OK) move to the next weekday.

Attach worksheets and files

Tap a lesson, then + Attach a worksheet or file under its details. PDFs, pictures, and Word, Excel or PowerPoint files up to 20 MB work, and you can pick several at once. They show under the lesson with a paperclip, and anyone in your family can open them, including in Student mode and on a teen's My work. Tap Remove to take one off. Deleting a lesson deletes its files.

Day, week or month

Use Day, Week and Month at the top of the planner:

  • Week shows a column for each school day. Tap a day's name to open just that day.
  • Day shows one day with more room: handy for working through today's lessons.
  • Month shows the whole month, Sunday to Saturday. Each day lists its first few lessons; on a phone, each lesson is a dot. Tap a day to open it and add lessons.

Move around

  • Use the arrows to go back or forward a day, week or month. Today, This week or This month brings you back.
  • Tap a student's name to see only their lessons. Together shows whole-family lessons. Everyone shows them all.
  • In the week, tap Show weekend to add Saturday and Sunday.

Print a week

In the week, tap Print this week. You get a sheet for each student (or just the student you're looking at), with their lessons and whole-family ones day by day, a box to tick for each, and room for notes. Pick Everyone or one student at the top, use the arrows to change weeks, then tap Print or save as PDF. Each student starts on a new page.

Colors

Each lesson's left edge is its subject's color. The colored name on it is the student it's for, in that student's color (Together lessons are gray). To change a student's color, open My family, pick a Planner color next to their name, and tap Save.

Reuse a week

  • On an empty week, tap Copy last week's plan. Every lesson from the week before is copied, unchecked.
  • On a week with lessons, tap Copy this week to next week. Next week opens with the copies.

Use a course

Following a book or curriculum? Make it a course and the planner fills itself in, one lesson per school day. See How to build a course.

Change your subjects

Tap Subjects at the bottom of the planner. Rename a subject, pick a color, or set its usual mins (so lessons without a time still count toward hours), then tap Save. Type a name under New subject and tap Add to add one. Remove keeps its lessons; they just lose the subject.

Only parents can change the planner. Teens in the household can see it.
