How to get notifications on your phone
Turn on notifications for direct messages, announcements and events, and add Gatherings to your Home Screen.
Gatherings can send notifications to your phone or computer, like an app.
Add Gatherings to your Home Screen
- iPhone or iPad: open app.gatherings.school in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. Apple only allows notifications for sites added this way, so open Gatherings from the new icon.
- Android: in Chrome, tap the menu (⋮), then Add to Home screen or Install app.
Turn on notifications
- Open My family and find Phone notifications.
- Tap Turn on for this device, then Allow when asked.
- You'll get a "Notifications are on" message to show it worked.
Do this on each phone or computer you use. Tap Turn off to stop them on that device.
Quiet hours
Once notifications are on, pick Quiet hours (for example 9 PM to 7 AM). That device gets no notifications during those hours, in its own time zone; emails still come. Choose Off to turn quiet hours off.
What you'll get
- New direct messages, right away.
- The same announcements, events, posts and reminders as your email choices.
- A reminder about 2 hours before events you said you're going to (or maybe). This one only comes to your phone, not by email.
If it says notifications are blocked, allow them for Gatherings in your phone's or browser's settings, then reload the page.
