How to use Circles

Smaller groups inside your group, each with its own posts, events, chat room and files.

Circles are smaller groups inside your group, like Field Trips, Park Days or the board. Each has its own posts, events, polls, chat room, and photos and files.

Kinds of Circle

  • Open: everyone in the group can see it. Join it to get emails and notifications about its posts and events (and to have them in your digest).
  • Invite only: Leaders add people, and only they see it. Good for a board or planning team.
  • Teens: for teens. Leaders can add teens and the adults who lead them. Teens join depending on their family's choice: they ask and a parent approves, they join on their own, or they're added automatically. See How teen accounts work.

Admins can see every Circle.

Join or leave

  1. Open the Circles tab.
  2. Tap Join on an open Circle, or Leave on one you're in.

For invite-only Circles, ask a Leader to add you. Teens see Ask to join or Join on teen Circles.

Start a Circle

Leaders, Admins and Owners can do this.

  1. On the Circles tab, under Start a Circle, give it a name.
  2. Choose who can join: Open to everyone, Invite only or Teens.
  3. Add what it's for (optional) and tap Start Circle.

Manage a Circle

Circle leaders and Admins can open Manage people on a Circle to:

  • Add someone with Add someone… and Add.
  • Make leader or Not leader.
  • Remove someone.

Tap Edit to rename it or change its kind. Admins can also Delete this Circle. Its posts and events are deleted too, and this can't be undone.

Using Circles

When you post, start a poll, add an event or upload photos, you can pick a Circle. For an invite-only or teen Circle, only its members see it. An open Circle's posts are visible to the whole group, but only its members (and Admins) are emailed about them. On the Feed, tap a Circle's name to see just its posts.
