How to move your group from BAND, Facebook or another app

Owners and Admins open the moving guide from Settings → Move your group, or from Moving from another app? on the Invite tab. Pick where your group is now (BAND, Facebook group, GroupMe or WhatsApp, A co-op website or spreadsheet or An email list or Google Group) and the steps change to fit.

The five steps

1. Get your home here ready. Describe your group, put your next events on the calendar and post a welcome announcement. Each one ticks off when it's done. Import events brings events over from an iCal link or an .ics file.
2. Make your invite link. Tap Create a link, then Copy link.
3. Bring over your member list. If your old app can export members, upload the file under Send personal invites. We pick out the email addresses.
   • BAND: on BAND's website, open your band, choose Members, then ⋮ → Download Excel. Only BAND admins and co-admins can.
   • Facebook, GroupMe and WhatsApp don't hand over email addresses, so the shared link does the work.
4. Tell your old group. Tap Copy message for a ready-made note with your link in it. Change the date, then post it where everyone will see it.
5. Follow up, then close the old group. Watch Read by on your welcome announcement. After a week or two, invite anyone missing, post one last reminder, then archive the old group.
