How to change your group's settings
Change the name, description, color, logo, cover photo, join rules and time zone, or hand the group to a new Owner.
Owners and Admins can change the group from its Settings tab.
Group settings
- Open the Settings tab and tap Edit on Group settings.
- Change what you need:
- Name and Description: who it's for and when you meet.
- City or area.
- Time zone: used for event times in emails. See How times and time zones work.
- How do families join?: approval, personal invites only, or join right away.
- Who can post on the Feed?: every family, or only Leaders and Admins (everyone can still comment and react). Choose "Only Leaders and Admins" for an announcements-only group.
- Who can add events?: only Leaders and Admins, or any parent. Whoever adds an event can edit or delete it.
- Color: the color of the group's badge.
- Tap Save at the bottom of the card (or Cancel changes).
Group guidelines
Every group starts with typical guidelines (being kind, keeping families' information private, photo and sick-child rules, and so on). Change them to fit how your group works.
- On Settings, tap Edit on Group guidelines.
- Type or paste them. Line breaks are kept, and web addresses become links.
- Tap Save.
Families read them on the join page, just above the Ask them to agree to box if you have one. Members find them any time under the group's name: tap Group guidelines.
Application to join
Application to join sets the questions families answer and who approves them. See How to set up your application and approve families.
The web address stays the same, so links people already have keep working.
Hand over the group
Only the Owner sees this. Use it when you step down.
- First make the new person an Admin on the Families tab. See Roles.
- On Settings, under Hand over the group, pick the New Owner.
- Type the group's name to confirm, then tap Hand over the group.
They become the Owner, and you stay on as an Admin.
Download your group's information
Under Download your group's information, tap Families, Events or Posts for a spreadsheet (CSV) you can open in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. It has only what Admins can see in the app, so details families chose to hide stay hidden. Keep the files somewhere private.
Reports
Reports shows anything members reported. See How to report something or block someone.
Logo and cover photo
Under Logo and cover photo in Settings, tap Upload a logo (square) or Upload a cover photo (a wide 3 × 1 strip) and pick an image. Drag it to choose the part that shows, use the Zoom slider (or your mouse wheel) to zoom in, then tap Save. The logo replaces the coloured letter wherever your group appears; the cover photo shows at the top of the Feed and on your invite page. Tap Remove to go back.
