How to get started with Gatherings
Sign in with an emailed link, set up your family, and find your way around.
Gatherings is a private home for your family's homeschool, and for the co-op or group you belong to. It works for your family on its own, too.
There's no password to remember. We email you a link and a code each time.
- Go to the sign-in page and type your email address.
- Leave Keep me signed in ticked on your own phone or computer. Untick it on a shared computer.
- Tap Email me a sign-in link.
- Open the email from gatherings.school. Tap the link, or type the code on the sign-in page. On a phone, the code is the sure way.
If the email doesn't come, see How to sign in.
Set up your family
The first time you sign in, we ask a few questions:
- Your name, so other families know who you are.
- Household name, like "The Garcia Family". This is how your family shows up in groups.
- City or area (optional). Never a street address.
- Your students: first name and birth year only (you can add a photo later on My family). Tap + Add a student for each one. Students don't get accounts. A teen who'll have their own login gets an invite later (How teen accounts work), so leave them off here.
- Tick the box to say you're at least 18, you're the parent or guardian of the children you added, and you agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
- Tap Continue.
You can change all of this later on My family.
Find your way around
The menu at the top has Groups (once you're in one: a list of your groups to jump between, and + Start a group), then Home, Planner, Records, Calendar and My family. On a phone, swipe the menu sideways to see it all, and tap the Gatherings logo to go home.
Your Home page shows:
- Get started: a short list of first steps (add students, choose subjects, plan a week, set school-year goals, join or start a group). Each ticks itself off; tap Hide this list to put it away.
- Today: today's lessons from the planner. Check them off as you go.
- Your family: your students, with a Manage link to My family.
- Coming up: events in your groups over the next three weeks, and whether you've answered.
- Your groups: each group you belong to, with a badge for new announcements.
