How to keep and share recipes
Your family's recipe box: add recipes (with a photo) or fill them in from a link, plan them into meals, send ingredients to the shopping list, and share favorites with your groups or by link.
Open My family in the menu at the top and choose Recipes (on a phone, tap My family, then the Recipes tab). Everyone in your household can see your recipes; parents add and change them.
Add a recipe (parents)
- Tap Add a recipe.
- Found it on a cooking site? Paste the link under Start from a link and tap Fill it in. Most recipe sites work; check what came in before you save.
- Or type it: the name, ingredients one per line, and steps one per line. Start a line with ## to make a heading, like "## Sauce" or "## Frosting".
- Add how many it serves, prep and cook time, notes and tags ("dinner, freezer, gluten-free") if you like, then tap Save recipe.
Search your recipes or tap a tag to narrow the list.
Add a photo
Open a recipe and tap Add a photo above its name. It's made smaller on your phone or computer before it uploads. Change photo or Remove photo any time. The photo shows on your recipe list, and to anyone the recipe is shared with.
Cook from it
- Tap ½×, 2× or 3× by the ingredients to halve or double the amounts.
- Add to shopping list lists every ingredient; untick what you have, then tap Add to the list. Anyone in the family can.
- Put it on the meal plan adds it to a day's breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack on Meals.
- Print or save as PDF prints just the recipe.
Share with your groups
Open a recipe, and under Share, tick the groups to share it with and tap Save. Families in those groups see it under the group's Recipes tab, with your family's name, and can save their own copy. Untick a group to stop sharing; copies families already saved stay theirs. If your family leaves a group, your recipes stop being shared there. A group's Admins can take a recipe down from the group.
Save a recipe another family shared
In a group, open Recipes, then a recipe, and tap Save to our recipes. It's copied to your recipes with "From the … family", and you can change it however you like.
Send a link
Under Share, tap Make a link and copy it. Anyone with the link can see the recipe without signing in; they see your family's name and nothing else. Turn the link off stops it.
