How to carpool and ask another family for a ride
Offer seats or ask for a ride to co-op days and group events on a group's Carpool tab, or ask a family you know to take your student to one thing.
Only parents can arrange rides. Families arrange them between themselves: Gatherings doesn't check drivers, so ride with families you know and trust.
Share rides to a group's events
Open the group and tap Carpool (or Carpool on an event).
- Under Offer or ask for a ride, choose I can drive or We need a ride.
- Pick the event, or Another day for a co-op day or trip, and add when you're leaving, a general area ("North Surprise"), how many seats or students, and whether it's both ways.
- Tap Offer the ride or Ask for a ride.
Don't put your home address on the board. Families in the group see the area and time; you share pick-up details only with the families you say yes to.
Answer a ride
On someone's offer, tap Ask for a seat and tick who needs one. On a request, tap Offer to drive. The family who posted gets an email and taps Yes (with pick-up details just for you) or Not this time. You're told either way.
Plans change: We can't make it, Cancel with them or Take it down tells the other family. Your arranged rides for the week show on Home under Rides, and everyone gets a phone reminder about an hour before (if you've turned on phone notifications).
Ask a family to drive your student
For one thing on one day ("Can the Garcias take Billy to basketball Thursday at 4?"), go to Activities, open Ask for a ride or a hand, and tick one or more families from your groups. Or tap Ask someone to drive on an activity session. They see it on their Home under Rides and tap I can or I can't. The first yes takes it, and a ride to an activity shows them as the driver. Families you ask see your students' first names and what you write; nothing else.
Turn it off (Admins)
At the bottom of the group's Carpool tab, an Admin can turn carpooling off for the group. Rides already posted are hidden while it's off.
